Biografía

Mauricio Bueno nace en Quito, Ecuador, en 1938. Vive en Nueva York desde 1947 hasta 1960, cuando va a Colombia y estudia Arquitectura en la Universidad Nacional. Trabaja como diseñador gráfico y es invitado al Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT), donde colabora con Horacio Caminos en el programa de Maestría en la Facultad de Arquitectura.

Recibe becas de la Graham Foundation y la National Endowment for the Arts, y permanece como fellow en el Center for Advanced Visual Studies del MIT por cuatro años, bajo la dirección de Gyorgy Kepes. Es profesor de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Los Andes en Bogotá, Colombia. Después de treinta años de ausencia, en 1977 regresa al Ecuador para ser profesor de la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Central; luego pasa a la Facultad de Artes Plásticas, en donde es profesor por más de tres décadas. Fue profesor de Arquitectura en la Universidad San Francisco de Quito hasta el año 2014. Actualmente trabaja en su estudio en la ciudad de Quito.

BIOGRAPHY

Mauricio Bueno was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1938. He lives in New York from 1947-1960 when he goes to Colombia and studied architecture at the National University. He works as a graphic designer and is invited to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he worked with Horacio Caminos in the Master's program at the Faculty of Architecture.

Receives grants from the Graham Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts and remains as a fellow at the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT for four years under the leadership of Gyorgy Kepes. He was professor of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. After thirty years absence, returned to Ecuador in 1977 to become a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Central University, then goes to the Faculty of Fine Arts, where he taught for over thirty years. He also was Professor of Architecture at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito until 2014. He currently works in his studio in Quito.
